We’re Stronger Together

In response to the burden on individuals and families in Monmouth County by the recent partial government shutdown, The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County will offer stress relief to current federal government employees and their families with free access to Y branches and modified childcare payments for the duration of the shutdown.

“I can’t tell you how much it meant seeing the flyer at the Y regarding assistance during this difficult time. I have a family of 7 and I’m the main source of income. You just don’t realize how much you take for granted until you don’t know when’s the next time you will receive a paycheck. Knowing I have one less payment automatically coming out of my bank account to further put my account in the hole is a bright side. Thank you from me and my family”

TO PARTICIPATE:

Current federal government employees should visit the Welcome Center or Membership Department at the Red Bank Family YMCAFreehold YMCA or Old Bridge YMCA, and show proof of employment & a valid photo ID. Participants of this program will have access to the same membership benefits as current Y members. For existing Y members who are impacted, we will waive your month of dues.

Affected families who participate in YMCA before and after care, and preschool in Matawan, and YMCA childcare programs in Freehold may inquire about modified payment arrangements to ensure continued access to childcare support in a safe, supervised environment without disruption to the family routine.

“I’ve had a family membership for years and because of my job have not had as much time to use the Y as I would have liked. Ironically, I now have plenty of time the past few weeks since I haven’t been going to work. It was this past weekend when I came in and noticed the signs about your relieve program. I can’t say thank you enough. We pay $92 a month to what’s usually an out of mind expense, however not knowing how long we will need to stretch our savings, we are truly thankful to the Y for having the compassion to not charge us while in this time of limbo.”

The Y is for everyone. Our programs, services and initiatives enable kids to realize their potential, prepare teens for college, offer ways for families to live healthy together, empower people in spirit, mind and body, prepare people for employment, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster a nationwide service ethic.
